6/30: 20%!

I'm 20 percent of the way to blogging an entire month, and I feel pretty darn good about that. I'm even relatively ahead of myself right now, which is quite nice. I do still have to make a couple of lesson plans tonight and tomorrow, plus update my resume, but I don't feel rushed. I wasted a lot of time reading today, but I don't actually feel it was time wasted. It kept me busy, kept me from feeling lonely or depressed, and kept me from mindlessly eating... all important things. I finished one of the two books I borrowed from Tim, then started the other. The one I finished was called Never Let Me Go, by Kazuo Ishiguro, and was so much better than I expected. If I'd read anything about it before I started, I wouldn't have been so shocked, but the blurb on the back gave absolutely no indication of what it would really be like. Dystopia. Awesome. In truth, it wasn't actually that amazing; it just exceeded my expectations in a spectacular way, which was good enough for me. So that was book number 40, meaning I only have 10 more books to read in the next four months. I should definitely be able to finish up before November.

I went to Beauty High School again today, and it was fine. They were actually much better at reading big numbers that I expected, much better than most of my students were when we started, but the lesson wasn't completely lost on them, and it was probably still useful for them to practice individually. I'm glad I added the sentences to each slide in the game, which made it a little more conversation-based. They seemed to enjoy, or at least not be completely bored by the pronunciation game, which is good, because we're going to do it, or a version of it, every time. I was surprised by how hard it still is for most of them... There were about 4 who got 3 out of 5 of them correct, and maybe 8 who got one correct, but it was apparently really hard. Not sure how I can help them with that. I got called "Ma'am," which is never a pleasant experience for a 22 year old, but at first I thought he was saying "man." I'm not sure if that would have been better. I did a bit of exploring around the school this time, so I met some new friends. I don't get the impression that all the boys at the school (all 18 of them) are gay, as someone supposed. But they do seem to be, generally, unbelievably un-serious students. Nice though. I got a lot of "wow beautiful why come?" Perplexingly, I left my USB there, so I have to go get it early in the morning on Monday. Why am I such an airhead? Bah! I guess I was just pretty excited to get out of there. 100 minutes in a row is rough, so I can sympathize with them.

After coming home I took a satisfying nap to get rid of a little headache I was started to develop, then headed to the gym and had a nice workout. After that, I just pretty much laid around reading for long periods of time, which is exactly how I prefer to spend my weekends, so it was fine by me. Oh, I did laundry too.

I could babble on more, probably, but I think I'll feel better if I use this last 45 minutes to lesson plan. Have a nice day.

Ma'am.....?? Yes ma'am....

You're a "ma'am!

Not to worry, you're still not old, they were probably just showing respect.
